Kim Moberg, Colette O'Connor, and Jane Ross Fallon featured at RISA Songwriters in the Round - presented by Mushroom Musicians Aaron Tornberg hosts RISA Songwriters in the Round (with Song Prompts) featuring Kim Moberg, Collette O'Connor and Jane Ross Fallon!  Colette O'Connor Singer/songwriter Colette O’Connor performs acoustic guitar/vocal originals that encourage thoughtful dialogue about who we are, what we stand for, and sometimes to inspire our inner child to re-emerge- just for fun. Every eye-twinkle can use an occasional re-charge. Most deeply, O’Connor’s artistry in music is a gentle invitation to empower a sense of greater connection to all life.

Raising four children has helped flavor her music with witty philosophical wisdom; mixed with a touch of fun. Overcoming her own serious health issues, with nutrition, while supporting her family, household, and partner with Multiple Myeloma, has gifted her  performances confidence and positivism.   Audiences are invited to hear honesty, tinged with gentle humor—like a conversation between Bette Midler and Joni Mitchell, over organic coffee. There is a timeless style here that melds genres, from jazzy-blues to Americana/folk, woven together by guitar, influenced by Atkins, Harrison, Cotton, and Watson.

Working to Heal, Inspire, and Encourage:   While O'Connor's performances encourage everyone, behind the scenes Colette is a strong supporter of women in music.  She publishes, online, Women Singer Songwriter Magazine as a supplemental resource for up and coming women/trans musicians. She hosts a similarly centered monthly radio segment "Notes from New England" as a reporter of women's music and stories on "The Wimmin's Show" broadcast on KZUM FM-HD 89.3, Lincoln Nebraska.   O'Connor's second album "I Think I Am" was named top among the 15 of 2016 by NPR station WICN FM 90.5, Worcester, by Nick Noble, host of the popular Thursday night, "The Folk Revival", and nominated for Best CD 2017 Award at Worcester Music Awards, by Pulse Magazine.

Jane Ross Fallon Jane (Ross) Fallon is a American performer whose smooth, rich voice and well-written songs get noticed. With vocals that have been called “angelic” and “mesmerizing” by Boston's Metronome magazine, her original songs “combine humor, intelligence, and deep musicality with an artfulness that is unusual.” (Wildy's World Music blog). She has 6 CD’s and two books to her credit. Her newest release, Tangled in a Tree, charted at #4 on the Acoustic Roots Chart and debuted at #8 on Airplay Direct; it was nominated by Limelight Magazine as “Album of the Year” . The Noise in Boston said the album was “the type of music that requires you to leave your cynicism at home . . . pretty, intelligent, expressive.” Her writing came to the notice of well-known Nashville songwriting coach Jason Blume, who commented on both the quality of her songwriting and the beauty of her voice. Jane recently won the Woody Guthrie Songwriting Competition in Oklahoma. She also won the Southern Florida Songwriting Competition, the Connecticut Environmental Songwriting Competion, and the New Jersey Folk Festival Songwriting Competition, just won first place in the Acoustic Guitar Mazazine Lyric Contest. “Powerful, inspirational, uplifting, delightful and impressive . . . One of the good artists in a sea of soulless clutter.” Cyrus Rhodes, Indie Music Magazine. Kim Moberg Kim Moberg was born in Juneau, Alaska, the daughter of a classical pianist mother of Alaskan Native Tlingit descent and a US Coast Guard veteran father from Kansas. Music has always been an integral part of Kim's life, helping her to adjust to the frequent moves associated with growing up in a military family.  At the age of 14, Kim began playing acoustic guitar on a borrowed nylon 6 string, earning lessons by typing lyric and chord sheets for students who were taking guitar lessons from her mother. A few years later, she purchased a Gibson Epiphone guitar and taught herself to strum and finger pick to her favorite music by the singer/songwriters of the 1970’s, but debilitating stage fright kept her from pursuing her own dream of becoming a professional performer. In 2014, after a hiatus from music to raise her two daughters with her husband, Kim set out to overcome her stage fright at local open mics and fundraisers.  Kim's debut CD entitled "Above Ground”, celebrates the achievement of her goal to bring her music out of the basement and “Above Ground". “Above Ground”, produced by Grammy nominated producer Jon Evans, was released worldwide in September 2017.  Kim’s recent recognitions include: finalist at the Spire Center for Performing Arts Singer/Songwriter Open Mic Challenge; selection by WOMR’s Bob Weiser to perform at the Suzi Wollenberg DJ Showcase at the 2017 Northeast Regional Folk Alliance (NERFA) and placing 2nd at the Linden Tree Coffeehouse Winter Potpourri (American Idol Folk), which earned her a co-bill booking with legendary folk artist Bill Staines.  Kim draws inspiration from both traditional and contemporary musical forms of acoustic, folk, and country genres. She strives to sing stories that evoke contemplation and emotion. A self taught finger pick style acoustic guitarist, Kim has an introspective interpretation of songs and is especially drawn to musical stories that tug at feelings of melancholy, heartbreak and healing. Her original songs speak to reunion, awakening and social consciousness.
