Come to The Hearing Room to hear three great songwriters presented by Mushroom Musicians!  Jon McAuliffe, April Grant and Amanda McCarthy   Amanda McCarthy Amanda McCarthy is a storyteller compelled to speak the truth. She doesn’t fit in a box and she doesn’t like rules. Blending many influences, her music is undeniably pop, but brings along an alternative rock twist, a dash of Nashville, and the heart of an old soul. She has independently released three EP's - most notably, the acoustic versions of her original songs “Elephant in the Room” and “Bad News” made it to the nomination ballot for the 59th Annual Grammy Awards in the category of Best American Roots Performance. She will be releasing new music in 2018 as she plans the release of her debut full-length album.   Jon McAuliffe

Jon McAuliffe is an award winning songwriter whose style includes a blend of gospel, folk/rock, classic R&B, and the occasional dip into pop.

Jon’s early career includes 2 albums with Warner Brothers Reprise Records label, a staff songwriting position with United Artists Music, several duos, and a number of opening slots for Emmylou Harris, Tim Hardin, The Beach Boys, Charlie Daniels, George Carlin, Patti LaBelle, The J. Geils Band and more.

In the 1990s, Jon pulled back from performance and writing to raise a family and to study American music history. As the nest emptied Jon became eager to perform again. Blending a love for what he calls “Folk & Roll” with his gospel roots, Jon’s current music has a certain spiritual tone to it with lyrics that underscore social responsibility and accountability. Presently, Jon plays in the New England area and is often accompanied by his wife, Patti McAuliffe, on vocals and percussion.

April Grant April Grant is famed for ballads, sea music, and a broad repertoire of poems and folktales. A mainstay of singing circles in the Boston area, she has appeared at the Mystic Sea Music Festival, the Portsmouth Maritime Festival, the late, great NOMAD festival, and the New England Folk Festival. She has told her stories and sung her songs everywhere from the Fire & Water Cafe (Northampton, MA) to the Glenfarg Folk Club (Scotland) and The Story Space (Central Square, Cambridge).
